뉴욕한인학부모들 “FIFA 일본전범기 완전 추방” 요구

뉴욕의 한인학부모들이 최근 국제축구연맹(FIFA)의 공식주간지 ‘The FIFA Weekly’ 표지에 일본의 전범기 이미지가 게재된 것과 관련, 모든 이미지의 추방(追放)과 교육 등 근본적인 조치를 취할 것을 요구했다.

뉴욕한인학부모협회의 최윤희 회장은 14일 FIFA 조셉 블래터 회장에게 서한을 보내 “위클리매거진 50호에 실린 욱일전범기를 사용한 것은 세계인들에 특별히 심각성을 갖는 아주 위험한 실수이며 FIFA의 헌장을 명백히 위배한 것”이라면서 “FIFA 헌장은 축구를 통해 특히 젊은이들을 통합하고 교육과 문화, 인류애의 가치를 실현하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있음을 명시하고 있다”고 환기시켰다.

이어 “욱일전범기는 나치의 스와스티카(하켄크로이츠) 깃발처럼 인류의 존엄성과 인권을 말살했다”고 지적하고 “우리는 독일대표팀이 나치의 스와스티카 깃발을 한 채 경기를 한다면 무슨 일이 일어날지 궁금하다”고 꼬집었다.

최 회장은 “욱일전범기는 일본 제국주의 군대에 의해 10살에서 20살된 어린 여성들과 많은 젊은 여성들을 납치(拉致)하고 강간(强姦)하는 일을 되풀이했다. 인간의 몸을 생체실험 대상으로 삼고 강제 징집과 징용하고 학살하는 전쟁범죄가 끊임없이 지속됐다”고 강조했다.

그는 “FIFA가 모든 욱일전범기 이미지를 색출(索出), 삭제(削除)하고 모든 구성원들에게 전범기의 역사적 문제를 교육시킬 것을 요청한다. FIFA는 여성과 어린이, 그리고 인간의 권리와 존엄성을 해치는 행위를 무시해선 안될 것”이라고 강조했다.

최윤희 회장은 “우리 전체 한인사회는 블래터 회장의 조치를 대단히 주의깊게 지켜볼 것”이라며 “FIFA의 힘과 권위로 역사적인 균형을 바로잡는데 최선을 다해줄 것을 믿는다”고 밝혔다.

한편 FIFA는 지난 3일 '피파 위클리 50호 표지에 일본 축구 특집기사를 다루며 전범기와 일본 선수들 일러스트와 함께 일본전범기 '욱일기'를 크게 실어 논란을 일으켰다.

이같은 FIFA의 망발에 대해 한국 등 아시아국가에서 항의와 비난의 목소리가 일자 최근 주간지 표지를 전범기에서 일본 국기로 교체한 것으로 알려졌다.

RE: Immediate abandon of “Sun Rising War Flag” image from FIFA

As president of the Korean American Parents Association of Greater New York and on behalf of the Korean community aboard, we urge your immediate action to correct an error that may be perilously regarded as trivial, but which in fact has global significance and how it is perceived abroad. Your timely intervention is particularly critical to your many Korea-American supporters.

I am informing you that used "Sun Rising War Flag" as background of FIFA weekly magazine the recent 50th edition of "FIFA THE WEEKLY" was in the clear violation of FIFA Mission Statement.

FIFA Mission Statement said that;

Developing football everywhere and for all

FIFA's primary objective is "to improve the game of football constantly and promote if globally in the light of its unifying, educational, cultural and humanitarian values, particularly through youth and development programs".

Using “Sun Rising War Flag”, the ally of Nazi Swastika Flag was violation of human right and indignity of all human being suffered under this flag. I wonder what will be the result, if FIFA features German Soccer players with Nazi Swastika Flag background.

Under “Sun Rising War Flag” young girl’s age of 10-20 years old and many young women were kidnapped and tortured to rape repeat by Japanese Imperial Army. Human bodies were used as testing of the virus, force to join the army and labor and killed countless war crimes.

I strongly request that immediate abandon of all “Sun Rising War Flag “image from FIFA.

Furthermore you must educate all FIFA employees the danger of the using “Sun Rising Flag” and history behind once for all. FIFA should not ignore the violation woman, children and human right and dignity.

The entire Korean-American communities are passionately of one mind on this issue and will note your stand with great interest. We trust you will invest the full power and prestige of your office to set right this matter of literally historic proportions.

We plead for your engagement and also request, as we have done before, that you or a senior staff member respond (see letterhead) to us as soon as possible.
