송지원-형근 남매예술가 뉴욕전시

작가 송지원과 디자이너 송형근이 18일부터 맨하탄 브라이언트 파크에 있는 Kenektidx Gallery (1026 6th Avenue, Suite 201, New York) 에서 ‘Poetic Materials’(시적인 재료들) 전시를 연다.

유학생활 시작 후 12년동안 서로 떨어져 지내던 두 남매는 작가와 디자이너가 되어 각자의 예술재료로 이번 전시공간에서 새롭게 만난다.

전시는 ‘Poetic Materials’(시적인 재료들) 이라는 주제로, 사람들이 쉽게 지나칠만한 작은 것들을 유심히 바라보고 관찰하며 반응하고 표현한 두 남매의 시각과 과정이 담겨있다. 각각 다양한 재료로 표현된 작품들이 전시된다.

작가 송지원은 어린아이와 같은 감각으로 마주하는 관계와 이야기들을 드로잉과 페인팅으로 표현하며 소통하고 있다. 디자이너 송형근은 ‘Tangible Typeface’ 라는 주제로, 손으로 만져지고 반응하는 서체(書體)를 탐구하며 개발하고 있다.

이 전시를 통해 사람들이 작품 안에 보이는 그리고 보이지않는 디테일까지 관찰해보고 마음으로 반응해 볼 수 있는 기회(機會)가 되기를 소망하고 있다.

오프닝 리셉션은 19일(화) 3pm-7pm 이며, 온라인으로도 실시간으로 진행될 예정이다. 관람시간은 월요일부터 수요일 10am-6pm이다.

Poetic Materials

The siblings, Jiwon Song as a painter and Henry Song as a designer merge their poetic materials into one

space after 12 years of living apart.

In this exhibition, Jiwon and Henry share the materials they have developed throughout their art and

design practices. Although one might pass by, they took the time to explore and respond to the

insignificant details around them with their unique perspectives and materials. Jiwon began to draw and

paint on-going interactions from her childlike sensitivity. Henry began to design tangible typeface from his

deep curiosity on human and typographic interaction.

Jiwon and Henry invite the viewers to observe and respond to visible and invisible details within the works

with open curiosity and sensitivity.
